Your Moving Questions, Answered
Free, No-Obligation Estimate
The questions Little Rock movers get asked most: pricing, stairs in older homes, loft and COI moves, parking, deposits, and how the actual move day unfolds.
Questions We Hear a Lot
What will my move cost?
Two things really: the size of the load and how hard it is to get in and out. A two-mover truck starts at $120/hr, and before we lift a single box you have a written, itemized estimate in hand. Need a firm ceiling? We can lock a flat cap, so the figure you sign is the most you will ever owe. Once a move crosses state lines, the pricing shifts to weight and mileage instead.
The staircase in my Hillcrest bungalow is narrow and steep. Will that be an issue?
That is squarely what we do. The vintage craftsman houses around Hillcrest, the Quapaw Quarter, and Capitol View tend to have steep original stairs, narrow doorways, and stepped porches out front. We size up each turn, pad the door frames and railings, and lift or hand-carry whatever will not make the corner, exactly as we have for more than 20 years.
Do you handle a loft or condo move where the building demands a COI?
All the time, and we cover senior-living and healthcare facilities the same way. Those downtown River Market lofts and condos usually need a certificate of insurance on file and the freight elevator reserved for a set window. We file the COI with building management, secure the elevator, pad the cab and hallways, and finish inside your booked slot so the dock opens back up on schedule.
We have no driveway and parking is tight. Can you still manage it?
Not an issue at all, and we handle it on plenty of River Market, Hillcrest, and older-neighborhood moves. Send us the address at booking and we arrange a truck spot, a loading zone, or the apartment dock, then shape the carry to whatever space the street gives us. Our team shows up ready to load straight from the curb rather than a driveway.
When does billing start?
Billing kicks in when the crew starts working at your door, not the second we leave our lot. After that first hour we charge by the minute, so seventy minutes counts as seventy minutes and never balloons into a rounded-up two hours. You will know the crew rate and exactly how we handle travel time before a single box moves.
Do you take a deposit?
Only a small refundable one to reserve your date, and it credits straight to your final bill, so you never actually lose it. Let us know a couple of days ahead if you cancel and you get every penny back. All of it is laid out in your booking right from the start.
How and when do I pay?
Nothing is due until the work is finished, not one minute before. We take cards, checks, and cash. Before the crew pulls away, you review the final total with them at your door and sign off.
Are tips expected?
Never, and we would not quietly tack one onto the bill either. When a crew truly earns it, plenty of customers pass along ten to fifteen percent for the guys to divide, by cash or card, but that is completely up to you.
Is there anything you won’t load?
Only a few things, and every one is about safety and the law: propane, gasoline, paint, and anything flammable, along with ammunition, live plants, perishable food, and pets. Got a piece that is oversized, unusually heavy, or especially valuable? Mention it when you book so we bring the crew and equipment to match.
Are you licensed and insured?
We are. VIP Moving of Arkansas carries Arkansas household-goods authority and full insurance, and our own crew stays on your job the whole way through, with no broker slipping in to skim a cut. We will gladly review the authority numbers and coverage with you, and we go through your valuation options before a thing is locked in.
What if a piece gets damaged?
Thorough padding keeps it uncommon, but should a piece get dinged, we log it on the spot and file the claim the same day. Before we start, we go over released versus full-value coverage, so you understand exactly how a claim would work.
How far ahead should I book?
For a straightforward local move, a week or two of notice generally covers it. The end of the month and midsummer fill up quickly, so give it three or four weeks then, and a little extra for a Saturday. Openings do pop up at the last minute, though, so it never hurts to call and check.
Do you handle pianos, gun safes, and slate pool tables?
Absolutely, our crew handles them just about every week. Upright or grand piano, a loaded gun safe, a slate pool table, a treasured heirloom, or a framed painting, each one travels on the proper board or dolly with the right straps and pads, and we build a made-to-fit crate any time a piece needs one.
Will you handle the packing?
As much as you want. Want the entire house boxed up? Done. Just the kitchen and the art? That works too. We arrive with heavy-duty cartons and paper, mark every box by its room, and once the truck is unloaded we will unpack you at the new place.
Do you move out of state?
Yes, and your shipment rides one truck with the same crew from pickup right through to drop-off. Nobody hands it to a broker or shifts it into some stranger’s trailer at a depot, and you get a delivery window you can actually build plans around.
Do you have storage?
We do. Whether you are bridging a brief gap between closings or waiting a few months for the next place, your things sit in a clean, locked space with every item on a list. Our crew carries them in and later back out, so there is no renting a truck a second time.
I’m relocating to Little Rock from another city. Can you help?
Definitely, a large chunk of our work is people moving into the metro, many of them here for a new job or to be nearer family. We nail down the delivery window, meet you at the new address, and take care of the parking, the building COI, or the freight elevator on our side. Your belongings travel on our truck with our crew, and they are never auctioned off to whoever bids cheapest that week.
Can I move or cancel my date?
Of course. Let us know at least two days ahead to move or cancel your date and your full deposit comes straight back. Every condition is written out in plain language on your booking, so nothing is left to guesswork.
